OUR SCHOOL OF ACTS: Becoming Commissioned and Activated Disciples
In the book of Acts, we witness the transformative journey of ordinary individuals into extraordinary vessels of God's power and purpose. As we delve into their experiences, we uncover principles that guide us in our own journey as disciples of Messiah Yahshua Jesus.
Stages of Transformation
Our spiritual journey begins as believers. We recognize our sinfulness and the need for salvation, and we place our faith in Yahshua Jesus as our Lord and Savior. This is merely the starting point.
Next, we are called to become disciples. True discipleship involves more than just attending church or reading the Bible. It means becoming intimately acquainted with Yahshua Jesus, dwelling with him, and being trained by his words and example.
As we progress in discipleship, we experience internal growth. God's Word renews our minds, shaping our thoughts and actions. This growth leads us to doing what Yahshua Jesus taught us. True faith is not merely mental assent but active obedience.
Disciples are apprentices, learning from the Master. As we grow in knowledge and experience, we become seasoned disciples, equipped to lead and train others.
The Commissioning
Yahshua Jesus gave his disciples a clear mandate: 'Go and make disciples of all nations' (Matthew 28:19). This commission is not reserved for a select few but extends to every Christian. We are all called to share the gospel and equip others to follow Yahshua Jesus.
The Process of Discipleship
Discipleship is a process of transferring knowledge, understanding, and experience. It involves:
* Teaching and training
* Mentoring and guiding
* Modeling and demonstrating
* Encouraging and supporting
Through this process, we multiply disciples who in turn multiply others, fulfilling God's great commission plan.
The Need for Laborers
In the present day, the harvest is ripe, but the laborers are few. Yahshua Jesus calls us to pray for more laborers to join the harvest. This means that every Christian has a responsibility to fulfill the commission to make disciples.
Conclusion
The School of Acts is a blueprint for our journey as disciples of Yahshua Jesus. By embracing the principles of discipleship, we can become commissioned and activated vessels of God's power, carrying his image and likeness and fulfilling his purpose for our lives.
